Yes! I love traveling. I have a passport and I'm 20 minutes from an airport - where are we going?!
Contact me for a custom quote on what travel fees would be for your location.
I also have an onling bucket-list of places I'd like to do photo session at. If your location is on that list, or you just want to let me pick an amazing location for us to do your session at, then I'll reward you with a discount on travel fees ;)
I'm glad your considering a lifestyle session! The short answer is that it's a photo session that produces more candid photos and less posed photos. You and your family or partner will do activies together and I'll hang out with you and capture beautiful 'everyday' moments that show off what life is like for you in this moment in time.
Some ideas include:
Reading to the kids in bed
Baking together
Toddler bathtime
Wine tasting
Hanging out in your favorite coffee shop...theater...brewer...store...etc
Pillow fight
Play time
The options are endless. Looking through the LIFESTYLE GALLERY is a really great way to understand the type of photos you'd get from this session.

Yes! The packages you'll see listed reflect the most comon needs of my clients, but I realize they are not always 'one size fits all' - if you find that you have an idea that don't quite fit into the listed packages I'd be happy to see if I could custom build something that would work for you. Just let me know what you're looking for!
Absolutely! I love animals and really enjoy when people include them in their sessions. Please let me know in advance though so we can talk through tips and ideas to make sure the session is successful for everyone involved.
(and yes, I've included pet fish in a session before)
You're not alone! Most of the clients I meet with have no idea how long things will take and how long they'll need photography coverage for.
At your consult I'll help you make a rough timeline that's custom designed to your wedding day. I'll ask a bunch of questions about your wedding plans to help determine how long each 'event' will take and we'll build your schedule from there.
Creating a custom timeline both ensures that you are not paying for more coverage than you need, and that you're booking enough time to cover everything you want photos of.
My consults (and timelines design!) are always free. No obligation, just chatting over coffee and seeing if we're a good fit for each other!
You can shedule your consult to build a custom timeline HERE.
I photograph newborn sessions as a lifestyle session including the parent(s) and/or other family members.
This can include some photos of the baby alone, but the majority of the session would be focused on capturing life as it is in this moment in time for you, and the interations between your family members. Less posing, more real life!
With Newborn lifestyle sessions we take our time, take plenty of feeding breaks and make sure it's calm and relaxing and hopefully even fun for everyone involved!
If you have any questions on what this would look like for you and your family please contact me!
Short answer: Danae Jones Photoraphy officially started in 2010.
Slightly longer answer: I began photographing weddings and sessions for friends, and working as an associate for other photographers in 2005. In 2010 I officially started Danae Jones Photography and I became a full-time photorapher in 2016.
The best time to schedule your senior photos is the summer before you graduate. Many schools have yearbook deadlines right after school starts in the fall. If you want until fall to book you run the risk of my schedule being full, bad weather and/or serious crunch time with your yearbook deadline. Most students do their senior photos May - August of the year before they graduate.
If you waited until school started back up don't worry, you're not alone! I set aside a few days to do senior sessions before each schools deadline so I can likely still squeeze you in. Just be sure to contact me ASAP. :)

Choose Package One if you're excited for your session and looking forward to lots of photos and poses!
We'll take extra time to explore and discover fun locations together ensuring that your senior photos are unique and personalized! You'll never feel rushed, have lots of time to change outfits or your look, and you'll end up with a large gallery of digital photos ready for sharing.
This session can be done close to home or can take us on an adventure to some epic backdrops. Want to go for a hike, discover a waterfall or have Mount Hood photo bomb you?
This package gets you any location within 50 miles of 97222 and we'll work together to choose the perfect one(s) for you!
Package Two is consistently my most popular package for seniors. It's a great choice if you want the full experience of your senior session but don't need the extra time for multiple locations or looks. You'll arrive at your selected location in one outfit and have time to change part-way through your session if you'd like.
This session gives plenty of time for you to feel warmed up in front of the camera while we wander and take some fun photos. We'll have lots of time to capture classic yearbook headshots and creative/candid shots.
We'll work together to choose an area location that fits your personality and style and you'll end up with a good handful of different backdrops and poses.
Looking for something short and sweet? Package Three might be what you're wanting.
You'll show up to your session dressed and ready to go and we'll spend the next
half hour taking photos at your chosen location. Unless otherwise requested we'll mostly concentrate on getting that perfect portrait for the yearbook, but we'll still have time for a few candid or creative shots too!
I'll provide you a list of a few locations near me (Milwaukie) for you to choose from.
[Talk to me about travel options if you have a location in mind!]
Package Four is almost identical to package Three, with one notable difference; it does not include any digital files.
With this a la carte option you're paying for the session and the yearbook photo submission only and will have the option to purchase prints, products or files individually from a watermarked gallery.
This package is a great option for those who:
Are only looking for a yearbook photo
Prefer prints instead of digital files
Would like less than 4 digital files
I sure am - x3! Thank you science.

I am! I looks something like this...But with a nicer shirt (and now a classy black KN95!)
I have some awesome clients who have adapted their 2021/22 weddings and have been incredible about rolling with the punches. It's been a different year for sure, but I'm really loving the intimate events taking place! Lots of wedding photography-related things are still the same, but here's a few bullet points of things that might look different if you get married in the near future:
Masks! I'll be wearing face coverings any time we're indoors, any time I'm working with you closely outside, or any time you request!
Testing! I am home-testing prior to weddings, events and whenever requested outside that.
Second photographer is offered on a case by case basis currently. If your wedding needs a second shooter to fully tell the story of the day we can add one to your package. However, in an effort to keep event numbers down and for the safety of all, I've limited adding a second photographer to an as-needed basis.
I'm not driving clients in my vehicle currently. If we'll be visiting multiple photo locations on your wedding day having a driver or vehicle lined up for yourselves is a great idea.
I'm taking precautions very seriously and am finding that for the most part I'm able to work safely with few adaptations. If you have questions about your specific wedding I'd be happy to chat through any questions, concerns or thoughts you may have!
I'm fully vaccinated and if you are too I'd love to have you over for coffee in my Milwaukie backyard to chat about your wedding!
Alternatively, I'm always happy to do a zoom meeting - Shoot me an email and let's set up a time to do a video-call!
Pre-Covid about 50% of my initial client meetings were done virtually - due to distance or client preference - so I feel like I'm ahead of the times with this whole video call thing. :)
Fair warning; that doesn't make me any less awkward on them though!
If you'd like to look at product samples (albums, gallery wraps etc) please let me know. I'm happy to loan out samples, or we can set up a time for a socially distanced in person meeting to look through things.
Now, more than ever I'm so thankful to have a community of amazing photographers all around me.
I am staying home when not working, and taking every precation to stay safe and healthy but I do have several trusted professional photographers with similar style and approach who would step in at a moments notice for me should it be needed.
I sure am! Thank you science.

Let's make your senior photos the one normal thing about your senior year!
Most things relating to your senior session are still exactly the same, but here's a few bullet points of things that might look different for your session due to Covid:
Masks! I'll be wearing one any time we are indoors and outdoors when I interact with you up close. When appropriate (walking between locations at busy spots, talking before and after the session etc) I kindly ask that you also wear one.
In an effort to maintain a safe distance from you I'm relying more on verbal posing and ajustments rather than touching you myself. (For example this might look like me asking you (or your guardian) to fix a stray hair rather than stepping in to ajust it myself)
I'm limiting my time indoors and in small spaces with clients when possible. I have a ton of incredible outdoor location ideas. If you have an indoor location in mind lets chat about it on a case by case basis!
I'm not currently driving clients around. If we are moving between locations I'll ask you to follow me in your own vehicle.
Over 18? Leave your parents in the car! ;) In an effort to limit exposure I'm asking only those being photographed to attend the session if possible and to limit it to one other person otherwise. If you're bringing someone with you please ask them to wear a mask for the duration of your session. Thanks!
I'll have hand sanatizer for you if you'd like it at any point - just ask!
If you or anyone in your immediate household are sick at all, experiencing Covid 19 symptoms, or have been exposed to someone with Covid-19 please contact me to reschedule.
I'm taking precautions seriously and am finding that for the most part I'm able to work safely with few adaptations. If you have questions about your specific session I'm happy to chat through any questions, concerns or thoughts you may have!
So, what's the same? Pretty much everything else!
We'll still do your consult & planning over the phone or email. You'll still pay online. You'll still recieve your digital files virtually and your prints in the mail and I'll still submit your yearbook photo on your behalf.

Honest Answer:
I don't know when yearbook deadlines will be this year. Each school has different deadlines and submission requirements and changes or extentions would be on a school by school basis.
I'm currently advising senior clients to schedule their sessions under the assumtion that deadlines will be the same as normal. Please contact me if you'd like to find out your school's assumed deadline. Since we're limited to outdoor locations for the most part, I'd advice booking before the rain sets in for the winter :)
Below is my "normal" response to this question any other year:
The best time to schedule your senior photos is the summer before you graduate.
Many schools have yearbook deadlines right after school starts in the fall so If you want until fall to book you run the risk of my schedule being full, bad weather and/or serious crunch time with your yearbook deadline.
Most students do their senior photos May - August of the year before they graduate but if you waited until school started back up don't worry, you're not alone! I set aside a few days to do senior sessions before each schools deadline so I can likely still squeeze you in. Just be sure to contact me ASAP. :)
For the most part it's business-as-usual for outdoor family photos, but here's a few notes about what's different for sessions right now.
(For example this might look like me asking a family member to fix your stray hair rather than stepping in to ajust it myself)
The public restrooms at many of the locations I use are currently closed. Please plan ahead for your family's restroom & outfit changing needs.
In an effort to limit exposure I'm asking only those being photographed to attend the session when possible.
I'll have hand sanitizer avaliable for you throughout the session if you'd like it at any point - just ask!
If you or anyone in your immediate household are experiencing any flu-like or Covid 19 symptoms or have been exposed to someone with Covid-19 please contact me to reschedule.
I'm taking precations seriously and am finding that for the most part I'm able to work safely with few adaptations. If you have questions about your specific session I'm happy to chat through any questions, concerns or thoughts you may have!
I am looking forward to welcoming you to my home studio space. Here is some info about my home so you feel more at home here;
My home is small and you'll walk right into the studio/common area from the front door. The restroom is all yours for the duration of your session - feel free to make it your own little dressing room!
My partner And works from our private home office & our senior dog Porter spends much of his days snoozing under the desk.
You likely wont see either of them unless Porter needs to sneak through the studio for a quick potty break ;)
There's not much dog hair about, but if allergies are a concern please let me know so we can talk options.
This home runs on espresso (shout out to Happy Rock Coffee Roasters) Bring in your travel mug for a top-off! Tea, water & snacks also available.
My space is generally pretty quiet, bright & peaceful. It's a place that I have grown to love and I really hope you feel relaxed here during your session.
Photo of Porter since he'll likely snore through your session and he's too cute not to see :)
Arrival:
I'll make sure you have my address prior to the session.
You're looking for a light green house & rose bushes out front. The driveway is all yours to park in [EV charger available].
Please plan to arrive just before your session start time. If you'd like to arrive early to change or prep prior to your session you are welcome - just give me a heads up!
Feel free to take a minute when you arrive to settle in, grab a beverage and use the mirror etc.
Accessibility:
There are two hand-railed steps into the house through the front door. House/studio area is completely level inside.
My space is generally calm and quiet & does often have a lightly scented wax burning.
Happy to accommodate if there's anything I can adjust or do to make your session comfortable for you.
You are welcome to change your outfit / look during your session as part of your time.
If you'd like to arrive more than 10 minutes early to get ready here please arrange with me in advance.
My home bathroom is available to you and all yours for the duration of your session - feel free to use the hooks & counter space as much as you'd like.
A full length mirror is available (but often lives in the closet - please ask if you don't see it handy)
**As always - for the safety of myself, family, and other clients please reschedule if you are feeling ill at any point leading up to your session**
Myself & household are vaccinated. Windows are kept open for air flow in the space as weather allows. Surfaces are disinfected between clients.
HEPA filter air purifier always battling away against allergens & wildfire smoke :)
Masks are optional in the studio - completely up to you if you'd like to be masked when we're not actively taking photos.
I'm often masked when working indoors with clients, and will always follow your lead/requests regarding masking.
I'm a big animal fan and would love to meet yours!
If you'd like your well behaved animal in your photos (or as a companion to your session) feel free to bring them along after arranging with me first.
